NMC Weekly Update - August 3rd

NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT'S OFFICE

Hafa adai, tirowami and greetings everyone! Please read the following articles about our college:

24th ANNUAL UPWARD BOUND GRADUATION
The Upward Bound Program’s Graduation Banquet was a success on July 21, 2007 held at the Fiesta Resort and Spa. Their theme “Redefining One’s Personal Success” certainly defined the graduates’ character and determination in pursuing a postsecondary degree.

Upward Bound had 41 graduates in the program. Three of these graduates are graduating juniors. Twelve graduates will be attending Northern Marianas College in the fall, while three will attend college in the U.S. mainland. Five have opted to attend our neighboring college and university, while eight have joined the military.

In attendance were Mayor of Saipan, Honorable Juan B. Tudela, CNMI Public School System Commissioner, Dr. David Borja, NMC President Carmen Fernandez and Dean of Academic Programs and Services, Mr. Danny Wyatt.

Ms. Angelica Co bid the class farewell with an inspiring speech to never give up and take charge and be a responsible citizen. In addition the graduates along with their underclassmen did a satirical skit, song and dance number. The parents and family are grateful that the program prepares their sons and daughters to succeed in ascertaining a bachelor’s degree.

The Upward Bound Program is currently accepting applications for the new school year 2007-2008. They are accepting incoming freshmen, so please stop by their office in Building I or call Ms. Jane Tudela at 234-5498 ext. 1312 for more information. Congratulations to all the Upward Bound Graduates!
